How to Rekey Weiser Kwikset Smart Key Lock: If your Weiser smart key won’t turn in the lock it is usually because the lock has malfunctioned. Also, occasionally the key will not enter the cylinder to unlock the door.

I owe this trick thanks to my dad, who learned it off his dad. So they taught me the lipstick trick. Welcome back. I’m setting up my Milwaukee pack and what did I forget? I forgot the lipstick. One of the most important tools in my locksmith kit. What do I use the lipstick for? If my deadbolt is sticking in the door. Of course, you can push, pull there are all sorts of different methods, this is the easiest. Open your door. Extend the bolt. Put lipstick on the end. And then close the door. Tap, tap, tap a couple times. And you can see on the strike plate where the lipstick has caught, and that’s what we’re gonna grind down right now. And this makes it really fast and efficient to find out where our problem is. On this one it’s the strike plate, sometimes it’s the wood inside. And I am going grind with my drill. If you look at it you can see where they’ve been closing this door with the bolt open, a common problem. Hear my funny lipstick story in the video.

Kabar Becker BK3 Forced Entry Tool For Law Enforcement? | Mr. Locksmith White Rock

Kabar Becker BK3 Forced Entry Tool For Law Enforcement? | Mr. Locksmith White Rock: The Becker BK3 is a utility knife or a tactical knife.

Kabar Becker BK3 Forced Entry Tool For Law Enforcement | Mr. Locksmith White Rock

The BK3 is a design collaboration between Ethan Becker of BK&T and John Benner of TDI, the Tac Tool smashes, bashes, pries, hammers and cuts. It is equally powerful at lifting stubborn hinge pins, prying open doors or windows, and hammering out glass as it is efficient at cutting 550 cord. A partially serrated edge makes cutting looped and synthetic materials a breeze. MOLLE compatible hard plastic sheath included. Becker Knives “Work for a living”. Made in the USA

The Fixed Blade on the BK3 Becker TacTool by Becker Knife & Tool of KA-BAR® is made from 1095 CRO-VAN Steel and features a Flat grind. 1095 CRO-VAN steel is an easy to sharpen, plain carbon steel used in knife making. Proven to be one of the most popular steels used in KA-BAR Knives

Becker BK3

In this video, I am going to talk about the Becker BK3 or Becker Tac Tool.  It is a utility knife or a tactical knife, whatever you want to call it, we’ll just show you. What does it have to do with locksmithing? Or more importantly, forced entry for police? This does not replace the traditional bars and stuff to bash down doors, get through doors. This is not a covert tool, but it’s a good tool for police to have for if they’re part of a tech tactical team, in my opinion, or if you’re involved with a search, with a search warrant, of course, and you have some minor locks to defeat. So again, we push the covert entry, but this is kind of interesting ’cause just take a look at this. There’s a beast. So this is not an unboxing because I got just the other day I ran across a police unit using one of these and I thought I have to have one and I have to play with it. So I went and bought one. What’s the first thing I do with it? I hack away at a SentrySafe, so we will show that video. So I, a little later, we’ll have a couple of days, but it’s a monster. It’s very, very thick. You know, the handle feels good. This is not a hunting knife. I wouldn’t even call it a camping knife. I’m gonna show three tools that I think are really useful for the average police to have, you know, in the back of your car, in a MOLLE pack. And this is one of three little force tools. So this is the biggest force tool. This does not replace your more traditional police entry tools, which really just copy the firemen. The firemen have fantastic tools for breaching doors. The police have a lot of interesting tools, too. This does not replace the traditional tools. Once you’re inside and you’re running across some interior doors, bedroom doors, bedroom locks, small safes, small drawers, again, it’s a forced entry tool. You can beat on the end if you’ve got a hammer or some stuff. We take a look at it. It’s the Becker BK3. And there are lots of online stores selling it. It’s a great tool. For locksmiths, we’re not gonna show up with this. Sometimes we’re involved in, the police who have already done a forced entry. Then they call us up to open stuff inside. Again, I wouldn’t use it. I can pick the locks.

Locked Out? Call Mr. Locksmith and we will use our lock picks and not the BK#

So for locksmiths and police could use this, too. Sometimes it’s just quicker, faster. Just cut it off. We have a cordless grinder with a cutting wheel. Super fast. The drill, also known as the rotary pick. We use that. So, but that’s traditional locksmithing tools when we have to step it up. We can’t pick it. We don’t have time to pick it. We can bring in these tools. So would a locksmith use this? Not really. But I have it in my kit just for the fun of it. For police? Yes. And combined with the two other locksmith tools which will have follow-up videos. For in the back of your police car, have it there. Smash out a window? Wow, this is like, we’re gonna go to a wrecking yard. We’re gonna knock out a few windows on cars. This thing just hacks right through them. Very quick. And then clean up the glass, of course. So, a force tool. Interesting. It’s got a knife on the edge. It’s got a pretty sharp edge. You can baton on this. It’s so big. It’s got the chiseled front. This could actually slip. It’s a little bit too thick, but it can actually slip some latches. So if you have a key and knob lock, you could slip it with this. Some small padlocks, you could just hack away at it. Like I said, I took this to a SentrySafe and it’s amazing how well it did. The only part that we, that I don’t really like on this, I would call it the seat belt cutter. It didn’t really cut some seat belts too good. It was okay. There’s better tools for cutting seat belts. This was pretty sharp here and it’s got the segregated blade on it. This chops through rope, wood. Even I took some band steel, some small band steel and just cut it. You can see the finish has held up pretty good considering how bad I treated it. Again, I think this is the weak point for a pry bar. I think it will snap there, but I think you really gotta pull at it to snap it. It’s not gonna just snap. But if I had to do with some of my other tools, which I’ll show ya. I mean, if I have to wedge the door a little bit, put in one of my slip tools to slip the latch back, small deadbolts, it’d probably just pop it back. Desk locks, it’ll open it in seconds. It’s an interesting tool. I like it. It was fun when I saw it in action for the first time and I thought I have to have one of these. So I have it. And I’ll show some more videos with it in use. And I’ll show two more little tools I like to put with this, and which makes it a good all round forced entry tool. Again, not really for locksmiths. Law enforcement’s gonna have a fun time with this. Yes, you have better tools, bigger tools, but for just attach this to your MOLLE pack with the couple extra little tools, and you have yourself a nice little entry kit. Stay tuned for more videos on this in use and a couple more little forced entry tools. I hope you enjoyed watching this video. Subscribe to my channel. How To Install Lori Single Cylinder Deadbolt | Mr. Locksmith White Rock

How To Install Lori Single Cylinder Deadbolt | Mr. Locksmith White Rock: Installing a Lori deadbolt. The Lori Deadbolt can be  a little bit confusing, because most deadbolts have the screws on the inside, so it’s pretty easy to figure out how to remove it, its double cylinders are a little different, so most of our Kwikset, Weiser, and Schlage deadbolts is pretty simple. You have a couple of screws, you take it out the traditional way. The Lori Deadbolts have a set screw hidden along the side of the bolt. You will need a 5/16-inch long-shaft Allen wrench to install or remove the set screws.

How To Install a Lori Single Cylinder Deadbolt

Tools to Install Lori Deadbolt

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • 5/16-inch long-shaft Allen wrench
  1. Open the Door
  2. Detach the slide bolt faceplate from the door edge by removing the two flathead screws using a Phillips screwdriver.
  3. Remove the thumb latch assembly from the interior side of the door, if applicable, by removing the two screw bolts on either side of the latch handle, then pulling the assembly horizontally from the door.
  4. Slip the long shaft of a 5/16-inch Allen wrench into the space on either side of the slide bolt to engage in the cylinder set screws and turn the set screw counterclockwise two to three full turns to loosen. Repeat for the set screw on the other side of the slide bolt.
  5. Remove the deadbolt cylinders by turning the cylinders counterclockwise until the cylinder is free of the mortise housing. You can insert the deadbolt’s key into the cylinder for leverage in turning the cylinder. Repeat for the opposite side cylinder in double-keyed models.
  6. Pull the slide bolt assembly from the door edge, then remove the cylinder housing from the door hole.

Lori Single Cylinder Deadbolt

A couple of screws. You can see the screws, you can see how to take it apart. And everything apart. So that’s your traditional single cylinder deadbolt. Now I’ll show you the Lori. They’re made by a ilco, UniCan, kaba, whatever you want to call them this week. It’s not my favorite deadbolt. In the year, you know, 35 years ago, it was a good deadbolt and I’ll show you why, because we could make almost any cylinder fit this. So, and that’s why they’re confusing when you see this on the door. Sometimes they’ll say Lori, other times they’ll say, could be Schlage, could be kaba, could be medical. It could be almost any type of lock. And you’ll see why it’s confusing for Locksmiths and also beginner locksmiths, or just the home, do it yourself or try to take this Lori lock off the door. So this is the ilko Lori, pretty simple. It’s instructions. Now, you’ll see it’s already slightly different than our normal deadbolts. And what the important pieces on this is, it’s the Allen key. You needed a long reach Allen wrench or Allen key. What do you want to call it? The Allen wrench or Allen key is five 64 of an inch. So this is what you need. And this is what’s a real pain in the butt. And it has to be a longer one, the normal. So sometimes your little kits don’t have the reach for it. So that’s the most important thing to the installation of this lock. And we’ll just show you what we got here. Now, this is a single cylinder and it’s pretty basic stuff. What you have here is the housing and it’s pretty easy. It says right on there top, is there an inside and outside? Here’s the confusing part. It has the little set screws and you can’t really see it when you’re trying to take it off. But when we’re putting it in, it’s a little bit different. So to install it, we have the cylinder housing, make sure your set screws are flush. That makes it easier to do the install. Top there, just place it in there, take our dead bolt, basically going to feed it in there. This is the single cylinder deadbolt. So this is what comes in the kit. Now this is what gets a little confusing. These machine screws are for holding the thumb turn on, these ones in the bag here, are for holding the housing to the bolts. So we’ll take these out right now. So there we have, now the bolt is into the housing. So the next step is, we have to change, this is a mortis cam and they have to use the Adams right cam. Take it off, put it in, and make sure, you know, you get the right side down. This will set flush, and that’s another common mistake. People put these in. So again, just tight don’t over crank them. And they have to be flush. So we’ve got the Adam’s right cam on the boarder cylinder. Everything’s good, we got the right key. Okay, everything’s perfect. So the spacer goes on first, then our little springy cover. And what we have to do now, take the outside housing, and what we’re going to do, is we’re going to install it. It’s going to screw in similar to an Adam’s rights storefront. But we’re going to screw the mortar cylinder in here. And again, don’t cross thread it. It’s pretty easy to cross thread. And I take the key out a little bit and gently get it snug. We have the mortar cylinder in the outside. Now I’m going to install the thumb turn on the inside. Other screws. Again, don’t force anything. You’ll cross thread the heck out of everything. So again, just do it snug, double check it, and check this. Now what we have to do to make sure, make sure that’s vertical. Now this is the confusing part. You can take your Allen wrench 564s. It has to be long. Now this is the difficult part for most people. You have to get it right in there, and just sort of wiggle it a little bit, and then you get in the set screw. Right to tighten, and again, snug not crazy, so we know we’re in, pull it out. Try that. Yeah, we obviously didn’t, I think we’re, I got to go in a little bit tighter. Cause see how it’s binding a little bit there, right there. We’re either binding on the, I think we’re binding on the set screws. You’d have to back it off or put it in. So let’s just snug. Now it’s a lot better. So just check by putting your, lock it, take the key out, unlock it, take the key out, one more check on the inside. Now we don’t have to do the set screw there because it’s a single cylinder, and these are held into the housing, these two screws. So we don’t have to set the screw there. The cover plate. Make sure it works. Don’t over-tighten these, if you over-tighten it, you’re going to find the bolt won’t open and close properly. There we go. Pretty simple. The advantage of this lock in the old days, again, I am not a fan of it right now, we run across a lot of them, is I can put any mortar cylinder with the Adam’s right cam in here. So I can put in anything. I can put it in a high security, any mortar cylinder lock, or any brand lock, any brand name will screw into that, and you can key it up to anything. So it’s a very versatile. In the old days it was versatile because we didn’t have too much choice. And now we have so many choices right now. As you know my favorite is the, take the Schlage, the B 660s or the 560s, or even the the end series, the new ones, the 60 ends. I can put the kick cylinder, we call them kicks owners. So it’s a cylinder we can put in. But we’re talking about this lock today. So this is the Lori Kaba. In its day it was versatile, but we run across a lot of these and some customers still have them, and some commercial buildings have boxes of these things. So we’re still installing them. They’re okay, I’m not a fan of them. I find them, if they’re exposed to weather, that little set screw rust up and the inside rust up. Again, not my favorite lock. It’s not that cheap either, but we run across them. So this is the Ilco, Lori, Kaba style deadbolt. It’s mostly called the Lori single cylinder deadbolt. Hope you enjoyed the video. Good luck when you run across these. Okay, have a good day. I hope you enjoyed watching this video. WD-40

WD40 or “Locksmith in a can” is a great product and I have opened hundreds of lock where the customer had a key that didn’t work and I would lightly spray the key hole and the key would work (Note: I would usually rekey or replace the lock after opening). If I can not pick a lock I will spray the lock with WD40 and it will then pick open. I have had no luck with other lubricates, It may be psychological but it works. Source: WD-40

Graphite

Graphite is the traditional material for lubricating pin tumbler locks, however, I do not like using it. My Dad used it profusely in locks and had a large tin of it on his work bench. I consider graphite old school because locksmiths today have a great selection of superior lock lubricants available.

2020 RAM 3500 LED Headlight Upgrade for Dodge Ram pickup owners have challenges with the stock factory Halogen Headlights. The stock Headlights are extremely poor for driving at night.  A LED light upgrade is very simple and fast on the Low Beam Headlights. Installing High Beam LED replacement light requires removing the Air Cleaner box on the passenger side headlight.

Ram OEM projector headlights

If you have a Ram 2500 or 3500 with the OEM projector headlights you need this package! Improve the mediocre light output from your factory projectors to what it should have been from the factory!

I am extremely happy with the new LED replacement bulbs. Also, the LED bulbs typically last longer than the factory halogen headlights.

On a recent nighttime drive through the Rocky Mountains the new LED lights performed perfectly.

I highly recommend the 2020 RAM 3500 LED Headlight Upgrade.

Cheaper to Rekey or Replace Locks

Whether you just moved into a new home or have been in the same house for a while, it might be a good time for you to look into changing your locks.

Every day I get asked should I rekey my locks or replace them? Re-keying your locks, if you have good locks, it’s pretty inexpensive. We just re-key the lock so the old key doesn’t fit it. So we take the lock off, re-key it, put it in, give you brand new keys. The old key will go in the lock but it won’t turn the lock. That’s re-keying. So re-keying is usually less expensive. So most locks can be re-keyed. Residential, business, commercial, everything. Most locks can be re-keyed. Residential and commercial locks The deadbolts and the key in knobs. We can re-key them. We can change the combination inside and give you new keys. If you have a good lock and it’s less expensive than replacing them. However, if you have some old, crappy locks or inexpensive or you want to increase the security of your locks, then we will replace the lock and sell you a new one and install it.

Rekey Locks

Re-keying is simple. It’s very fast. It doesn’t take long for us to do it. And we can re-key regular locks, high-security locks, some padlocks can be re-keyed but most can’t, they’re sealed units. Re-keying your locks is pretty inexpensive compared to replacing them. Also, it doesn’t take a lot of time, 15 minutes we can re-key a basic lock. Sometimes they take a little bit longer, sometimes quicker. Just depends upon the lock and how old it is and what style of lock it is. Some of the high security locks can take quite a while to re-key. But again, it’s less expensive. You don’t have to change your locks. You don’t have to install brand new ones. We can just re-key your existing locks.

Locksmith Richmond For Sale: Hi, I’m Terry from Mr. LockSmith. I am looking for a Licensee for Mr. LockSmith Richmond, British Columbia. Locksmithing has been absolutely fantastic for me. I raised my family, I’ve had a nice life, I’ve had nice vacations, and it’s all because of locksmithing. Whether we got a good economy, bad economy, we still make money as locksmiths. And unfortunately, even during COVID, we had so many break-ins at night in the city, or everywhere, it was just break-ins like crazy, and mostly commercial break-ins. We still survived COVID, and we still doing well before, during, and after. It hit us a little bit, there’s no denying that, but we recovered pretty quick.

Being a locksmith is great. My grandfather was a locksmith, my father, my uncle. I had some of the best training in the world through family, and I’ve done lots of courses. Even now, I still take courses. A lot of manufacturers have good courses. So what I’ve done is I’ve looked at how we make money, and what’s the best products to sell, what’s the best services to offer. More importantly, the training program teaches you how to become a businessperson.

Duracell 550 Lumen Headlamp Review | Mr Locksmith White Rock

Duracell 550 Lumen Headlamp Review | Mr Locksmith White Rock

Mr. Locksmith White Rock: (604) 210-9875

I love Costco. They always got some fantastic deals and they’re always got the Duracell batteries on sale and they got some flashlights every now and then. What I did is I bought a pack of these, they were under $20. I thought, “oh, this is okay. “Cool, it’s got the headlamp.” I’m not really into the headlamps. I didn’t think I was. So I thought, “hey, this is a good deal.” I’ll put a one in my service truck for locksmithing, ’cause you never have enough light. And I’ll give it a try. And I’ll put one inside my camper and one inside my truck for camping. So I bought it and I thought, “Wow.”

Duracell 550 Lumen 3-pack Headlamp

I tried it out, they were fantastic. So I bought another pack, while they’re still on sale and they still got them. And there was actually hardly any left this time. The biggest pain in the butt is getting them out of this package. They pack them up so good. So scissors. Okay, there we go. I got these in my camper. I’m quite happy with… Oh, I can do that when I’m looking down there. Okay. So I guess that’s… That’s one thing I hate about this. Someone’s got this on their head and they’re talking to me and it’s right in my face. I can’t see a thing. So this is kind of cool. So I do like these. I don’t like wearing a headlamp normally, but I kinda like this one. It’s lots of batteries, lots of bits and pieces, but the good thing with this is I just don’t have one. I have them all thrown all over the place, so it’s quite handy. Okay. Have a good day. Hey, good Christmas idea for your locksmith or anybody, camper, hunter, locksmith. Good idea.
