Pick Open Master Padlock with Lishi Tool | Mr. Locksmith White Rock

Pick Open Master Padlock with Lishi Tool | Mr. Locksmith White Rock: A Lishi tool is a very good tool for locksmiths to use as it is a time-saving way of making replacement keys or opening locked cars. Lishi is also a style of lock picking technique that is very easy to learn compared to the conventional way of picking locks. It only uses one lifting probe, which can be set at a specific space marking that allows each tumbler to be moved into the open shearline position.

The Lishi picks are well built and have a nice feel to them. Only a small amount of training would suffice to learn Lishi picking. Two reasons why I love Lishi tool: One, It’s going to teach how to become a better lock picker, because you’re gonna know exactly where you are to feel the binding pin, and the second thing is, my biggest pain in the butt for pick is 6-pin Schlage.

Lishi is a very good tool for locksmiths to figure out, because you have to use a Lishi tool and most the application you’re basically feeling the wafers, you’re going the binding wafer, you pick that one first and then you can go for the next binding wafer. That’s how you use the Mr. Lishi tools for automotive. They’ve come out with fantastic tools, they’ve come out with four tools now. One for 5-pin quick set, the 6-pin quick set, also the 5-pin Schlage, and the 6-pin Schlage.

Open Master Padlock with Lishi Tool | Mr. Locksmith White Rock

So you can get KW1, KW5, or KW10 I will call it. The SC1 and the SC4. I had the pleasure of testing some of the prototypes. The tools made my Mr. Lishi, I tested the 5-pin and the 6-pin Mr. Lishi tools on quick set rocks, and they say it’ll do whether it has mushroom or spool pins or whatever. It’s exactly the same as when you’re using regular picks. You put the tool in and you’re feeling for which pin is binding first.

Single Pin Picking, SPP, or they like to call the field method or the French method. We’ll call it the SPP for today. Because of the tolerances within the lock and the inaccuracies of machining, we will find um let’s take a 5-pin one of the pins will be binding, and that’s the pin you pick first. And the tool is fantastic because it has all your spacing for quick set and the depths and we know they go most of the quick sets go 1 to 6. So you can feel with the tool you can find exactly which one is binding. You pick that one and then find your next one. So it’s not always 1-2-3-4-5, it could be the 3rd, the 5th, the 4th, the 2nd. You just remember which one’s binding first, and it’s not the same in all locks, because of the different machining processes.

Now that picks really quick now watch this we leave it picked we can read this thing, so let’s read it. So the first cut is…so that’s a four. The second cut, is a five. Third cut is a five. And the fourth cut is a one. So, not only can we pick this pretty quick, we can read it and I’ll make a key to it!

Knipex Pliers Replace Adjustable Wrench

Mr. Locksmith White Rock: (604) 210-9875

Mr. Locksmith Automotive White Rock(604) 259-7617

I am now replacing my crescent wrenches and other pliers with the Knipex pliers. Now, I do not use this. I saw it for sale and it wasn’t expensive and I bought it and I just hang it on the shop wall, so I just thought I would show you. So this is what I use. I’ve been using this forever and in my installation kit, in my everyday carry. I saw this. I am very, very happy with my Knipex tools, so I thought I’d replace this crescent wrench in my everyday carry and it’s getting heavy, but I’m trying to make it lighter. So I replaced it with this.

So let’s just take a peek at what we got here. So what bugs the heck out of me on my crescent wrench, it doesn’t matter what you’re doing. It always comes loose. So you’re trying to use it, I put up with this my whole life. Unless you got the exact tool you’re needing, but in your locksmith case, this is what I use and I really just need, I use it mostly for mailbox locks. So I’m happy with my other tools. So this is the Knipex pliers and it’s got the little button here. look at wide that goes. So this crescent wrench is going in the spare kit. This is going in my everyday carry, in my tool case. So that’s the Knipex. Look at that. No matter what angle it does, it’s locked in. It’s not gonna move on me ’til I push the button and move it where I wanna go. So this is gonna be really handy and

Knipex Pliers

Ia going to show you how I use it on a mailbox lock. So this is my mailbox lock. The Mailbox lock kit has all the different tail pieces for it. So let’s just put this tail piece on there for now. Just for the demonstrations. Normally, I usually install it first and then I put this on last. I’m trying to make this good for the camera to see. Go finger tight. Now what I can do hold my lock. Take the key out, really, put that on there. They are down there just snug. You can really over-tighten these, so be careful. Give a little test. Lube that up. So, perfect. So this tool has replaced my crescent wrench. So this Knipex pliers has now replaced my crescent wrench, which for years has driven me nuts, but I didn’t really have anything better. This is way better. I willl be using this every day now and soon I will have some more videos with this in action on job sites.

This is my Knipex pliers that I have so far, and they’ve been updating my locksmith tools for these, and I’ll show you how this goes in my little pick case. First thing I grab when I go to do a lockout, most times.

My Lock Picks

Lock Pick Case

When I show up at a job site, I pull this out of my locksmith tools and it’s just a little map expedition case, this is a EDC case. And in it, and this is what I do probably 95% of my picking lockouts, is just, I grab this kit, it’s quick and easy.

Knipex Cobra XS 4″ Plier

And just inside is, I’ll show you what I got here. I have my latest little toy. I have my KNIPEX pliers, and these are handy and they’re narrow enough, sometimes I can get a broken key out of there, but this is for picking. I just grab this. I can have this, if I have to turn it.

Knipex Cobra XS 4 inch Piler

Knipex Cobra XS 4 inch Piler

Lock Picks

The main tools I use, every single time. So my favorite pick is a hook pick with a diamond. And some of these are Peterson’s, Rytans, whatever. That’s my favorite pick. This one’s a little bit thicker. This one’s a little bit thinner. And I always grab, I prefer a rigid tension wrench, and I also have a flexible one. You see, I bent it. I bend this whichever way I’m going. So these three things right here I’d say open up 90, 95% of the lockouts I have if I have to pick the lock.

Plug Spinner

This is it, very simple. I either use a rigid, a flexible, and a lot of times the locks will pick the wrong way. Well, I’m not gonna re-pick it. I’m gonna use my plug spinner. I call it a flipper, a plug spinner. I have a whole different types of spinners, but this is the one in my case. I have a bigger pick set that I use if I just not picking it.

WD40

And of course I always have a little can of WD-40 I use for picking locks, not for lubricating locks, for helping me to pick it. My friends all use TriFlow and I like using WD-40. I had a lock the other day, it was funny. It was a lockout and it was a Schlage deadbolt, and they can be difficult to pick. And I was having no luck picking it at all. And then I just gave it a little spray of WD-40 and it picked like in 10 seconds. Lubricant is extremely important for picking locks. I always try to pick a lock without using lubricant, and then if I can’t pick it, then I’ll spray it. Some guys will spray it with the lubricant right off the bat, some locksmiths will just spray it right off the bat. I’ve had extreme luck. Sometimes you go there, the lock is just ready to pick, so by the time I apply tension, put the pick in, and it opens. People ask about the technique.

Sticky Lock White Rock

Sticky Lock White Rock

Single Pin Picking

I’ll show you in a couple of videos coming up, but there’s two techniques. There’s the single-pick method, which is the best method, and then there’s raking, which works well. What I do is, I rake the lock, apply tension, I rake the lock a few times and then I’ll single-pin pick it. That seems to work really good for me. Also, don’t be afraid to release tension. I’ll rake it, single-pin pick it, and then I’ll let go. And if I don’t hear click, click, click, it means I haven’t applied proper tension. So one way, instead of just picking away, some people are afraid to release tension, release the tension, then you can see, “Oh, I picked a bunch.” Or if you hear nothing, you don’t hear the pins falling back in, then you know you got bad tension. But back to the point, this is my everyday carry. If I show up a lockout, this is what I have in my kit. Hope you enjoyed the video. You hear the expression, especially when it comes to tools, “Cry once when you buy it or cry twice when you have to replace it.” You buy quality tools, you really save yourself a lot of time and money over the long haul. Same thing with key machines. I’ve got key machines that are 35 years old. They work absolutely perfect. They work some better than some of the new ones. That’s another story. But a couple of years ago, I bought the Knipex bolt cutters for cutting screws and tail pieces on locks. And because of that, I’ve now purchased, I’ve gone into the little tiny, probably the most expensive pliers I ever bought, the Knipex a pliers.

Knipex Pliers

This is in my pick kit, my EDC. I’ve replaced my crescent wrench with this little Knipex. With pliers, it’s basically replaced my crescent wrench. I’ll never go back to a crescent wrench. I’m actually now looking at the larger one, I still use a large crescent wrench for when I install with my pit ball, which is another video, when I’m installing latches on steel doors. So I’m gonna get the bigger set and that’ll be the next thing to add And these two tools, I call them channel locks, but they’re actually called water pump locks.

If I got to grab something, these are unbelievable. So this is in my tool case for every day. This is in my backup kit for when I have to do something a little bit more heavy duty. The power of these and the gripping power is unbelievable. I was in the rain the other day and some of my other tools that were getting rusty, my fault, I should have oiled them down. These things still look brand new. I’ve had excellent luck with these.

Knipex Cobra XS 4 inch Piler

So I’m extremely happy with my Knipex pliers. Very, very happy. I’m gonna add a few more and you’ll be seeing them in future videos as I’m doing jobs. So these are the very best pliers you can buy. If you look at the Mack Trucks, I think even Snap-On, they’re carrying the nitpicks line in there. I don’t know if they’ve rebranded them, but you can buy these at your, they’re a little bit harder to find at your big box hardware stores ’cause they’re trying to flog their in-house brands. The advantage of buying off of a, I call it the big box trucks, is if something breaks, it’s very easy to do a replacement.

I haven’t had to replace the thing yet, but it’s extremely easy with other Snap-On tools I have, especially my circuit pliers. I tend to break them every couple of years. They just give me a new one. I have some screwdrivers and some Snap-On ratchets and whatnot. If I crack them, they replace them instantly. So I love my Snap-On truck guy and I love the Mack tools guy. That’s the two I like. The tools are good and a lot of them are selling these lines. So it’s just to go in and get a replacement.

Mr. Locksmith™ White Rock

This is the second most little tool I’ve ever bought. It’s a Knipex pliers, it was under $50. Look at the size of this, it’s tiny. It’s extremely strong from what I’ve seen. I bought these for my pick case. I’ll have some stuff showing my little tools that I use for broken keys and whatnot. This is just gonna come in handy for grabbing little bits and pieces. It’s overpriced, yeah, I wanted one and I’ll show you how I put it in my, in my pick case.

How To Install Lori Single Cylinder Deadbolt | Mr. Locksmith White Rock

How To Install Lori Single Cylinder Deadbolt | Mr. Locksmith White Rock: Installing a Lori deadbolt. The Lori Deadbolt can be  a little bit confusing, because most deadbolts have the screws on the inside, so it’s pretty easy to figure out how to remove it, its double cylinders are a little different, so most of our Kwikset, Weiser, and Schlage deadbolts is pretty simple. You have a couple of screws, you take it out the traditional way. The Lori Deadbolts have a set screw hidden along the side of the bolt. You will need a 5/16-inch long-shaft Allen wrench to install or remove the set screws.

How To Install a Lori Single Cylinder Deadbolt

Tools to Install Lori Deadbolt

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • 5/16-inch long-shaft Allen wrench
  1. Open the Door
  2. Detach the slide bolt faceplate from the door edge by removing the two flathead screws using a Phillips screwdriver.
  3. Remove the thumb latch assembly from the interior side of the door, if applicable, by removing the two screw bolts on either side of the latch handle, then pulling the assembly horizontally from the door.
  4. Slip the long shaft of a 5/16-inch Allen wrench into the space on either side of the slide bolt to engage in the cylinder set screws and turn the set screw counterclockwise two to three full turns to loosen. Repeat for the set screw on the other side of the slide bolt.
  5. Remove the deadbolt cylinders by turning the cylinders counterclockwise until the cylinder is free of the mortise housing. You can insert the deadbolt’s key into the cylinder for leverage in turning the cylinder. Repeat for the opposite side cylinder in double-keyed models.
  6. Pull the slide bolt assembly from the door edge, then remove the cylinder housing from the door hole.

Lori Single Cylinder Deadbolt

A couple of screws. You can see the screws, you can see how to take it apart. And everything apart. So that’s your traditional single cylinder deadbolt. Now I’ll show you the Lori. They’re made by a ilco, UniCan, kaba, whatever you want to call them this week. It’s not my favorite deadbolt. In the year, you know, 35 years ago, it was a good deadbolt and I’ll show you why, because we could make almost any cylinder fit this. So, and that’s why they’re confusing when you see this on the door. Sometimes they’ll say Lori, other times they’ll say, could be Schlage, could be kaba, could be medical. It could be almost any type of lock. And you’ll see why it’s confusing for Locksmiths and also beginner locksmiths, or just the home, do it yourself or try to take this Lori lock off the door. So this is the ilko Lori, pretty simple. It’s instructions. Now, you’ll see it’s already slightly different than our normal deadbolts. And what the important pieces on this is, it’s the Allen key. You needed a long reach Allen wrench or Allen key. What do you want to call it? The Allen wrench or Allen key is five 64 of an inch. So this is what you need. And this is what’s a real pain in the butt. And it has to be a longer one, the normal. So sometimes your little kits don’t have the reach for it. So that’s the most important thing to the installation of this lock. And we’ll just show you what we got here. Now, this is a single cylinder and it’s pretty basic stuff. What you have here is the housing and it’s pretty easy. It says right on there top, is there an inside and outside? Here’s the confusing part. It has the little set screws and you can’t really see it when you’re trying to take it off. But when we’re putting it in, it’s a little bit different. So to install it, we have the cylinder housing, make sure your set screws are flush. That makes it easier to do the install. Top there, just place it in there, take our dead bolt, basically going to feed it in there. This is the single cylinder deadbolt. So this is what comes in the kit. Now this is what gets a little confusing. These machine screws are for holding the thumb turn on, these ones in the bag here, are for holding the housing to the bolts. So we’ll take these out right now. So there we have, now the bolt is into the housing. So the next step is, we have to change, this is a mortis cam and they have to use the Adams right cam. Take it off, put it in, and make sure, you know, you get the right side down. This will set flush, and that’s another common mistake. People put these in. So again, just tight don’t over crank them. And they have to be flush. So we’ve got the Adam’s right cam on the boarder cylinder. Everything’s good, we got the right key. Okay, everything’s perfect. So the spacer goes on first, then our little springy cover. And what we have to do now, take the outside housing, and what we’re going to do, is we’re going to install it. It’s going to screw in similar to an Adam’s rights storefront. But we’re going to screw the mortar cylinder in here. And again, don’t cross thread it. It’s pretty easy to cross thread. And I take the key out a little bit and gently get it snug. We have the mortar cylinder in the outside. Now I’m going to install the thumb turn on the inside. Other screws. Again, don’t force anything. You’ll cross thread the heck out of everything. So again, just do it snug, double check it, and check this. Now what we have to do to make sure, make sure that’s vertical. Now this is the confusing part. You can take your Allen wrench 564s. It has to be long. Now this is the difficult part for most people. You have to get it right in there, and just sort of wiggle it a little bit, and then you get in the set screw. Right to tighten, and again, snug not crazy, so we know we’re in, pull it out. Try that. Yeah, we obviously didn’t, I think we’re, I got to go in a little bit tighter. Cause see how it’s binding a little bit there, right there. We’re either binding on the, I think we’re binding on the set screws. You’d have to back it off or put it in. So let’s just snug. Now it’s a lot better. So just check by putting your, lock it, take the key out, unlock it, take the key out, one more check on the inside. Now we don’t have to do the set screw there because it’s a single cylinder, and these are held into the housing, these two screws. So we don’t have to set the screw there. The cover plate. Make sure it works. Don’t over-tighten these, if you over-tighten it, you’re going to find the bolt won’t open and close properly. There we go. Pretty simple. The advantage of this lock in the old days, again, I am not a fan of it right now, we run across a lot of them, is I can put any mortar cylinder with the Adam’s right cam in here. So I can put in anything. I can put it in a high security, any mortar cylinder lock, or any brand lock, any brand name will screw into that, and you can key it up to anything. So it’s a very versatile. In the old days it was versatile because we didn’t have too much choice. And now we have so many choices right now. As you know my favorite is the, take the Schlage, the B 660s or the 560s, or even the the end series, the new ones, the 60 ends. I can put the kick cylinder, we call them kicks owners. So it’s a cylinder we can put in. But we’re talking about this lock today. So this is the Lori Kaba. In its day it was versatile, but we run across a lot of these and some customers still have them, and some commercial buildings have boxes of these things. So we’re still installing them. They’re okay, I’m not a fan of them. I find them, if they’re exposed to weather, that little set screw rust up and the inside rust up. Again, not my favorite lock. It’s not that cheap either, but we run across them. So this is the Ilco, Lori, Kaba style deadbolt. It’s mostly called the Lori single cylinder deadbolt. Hope you enjoyed the video. Good luck when you run across these. Okay, have a good day. I hope you enjoyed watching this video. WD-40

WD40 or “Locksmith in a can” is a great product and I have opened hundreds of lock where the customer had a key that didn’t work and I would lightly spray the key hole and the key would work (Note: I would usually rekey or replace the lock after opening). If I can not pick a lock I will spray the lock with WD40 and it will then pick open. I have had no luck with other lubricates, It may be psychological but it works. Source: WD-40

Tri-Flow Lubricants

TriFlow Lubricant is a superior, light viscosity lube that allows for deep penetration into hard to reach moving parts. The aerosol spray uses high-grade petroleum oils that provide optimum lubrication under extreme temperatures (-60 to 475°F) and humidity. I use Tri-Flow after I rekey most domestic locks. Graphite

Graphite is the traditional material for lubricating pin tumbler locks, however, I do not like using it. My Dad used it profusely in locks and had a large tin of it on his work bench. I consider graphite old school because locksmiths today have a great selection of superior lock lubricants available.

Locksmith Richmond For Sale: Hi, I’m Terry from Mr. LockSmith. I am looking for a Licensee for Mr. LockSmith Richmond, British Columbia. Locksmithing has been absolutely fantastic for me. I raised my family, I’ve had a nice life, I’ve had nice vacations, and it’s all because of locksmithing. Whether we got a good economy, bad economy, we still make money as locksmiths. And unfortunately, even during COVID, we had so many break-ins at night in the city, or everywhere, it was just break-ins like crazy, and mostly commercial break-ins. We still survived COVID, and we still doing well before, during, and after. It hit us a little bit, there’s no denying that, but we recovered pretty quick.

Being a locksmith is great. My grandfather was a locksmith, my father, my uncle. I had some of the best training in the world through family, and I’ve done lots of courses. Even now, I still take courses. A lot of manufacturers have good courses. So what I’ve done is I’ve looked at how we make money, and what’s the best products to sell, what’s the best services to offer. More importantly, the training program teaches you how to become a businessperson.

Unboxing Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolt: Hi, I’m Terry. Today I am going to unbox a Schlage Sense. The Sense Electronic Deadbolt is built on their successful line of residential, electronic deadbolts and also key in knobs, so this is the electronic deadbolt, the Schlage Sense.

Schlage Sense Bluetooth Encription

Some of the big problems of the earlier electronic locks were using unencrypted Bluetooth that could be hacked. The Schlage Sense is using Bluetooth 4.0 and has an encrypted signal.

Bluetooth, as opposed to wifi, ZWave, ZigBee and all the other protocols for communicating with your electronic locks is low battery drain. Bluetooth is easy on the batteries just go on forever and ever, also, the Bluetooth is good for about 40 feet. Again, depending on your building and all sorts of things, but again, the Bluetooth 4.0 is fantastic for encryption and the other thing is long battery life. So you’re gonna get a lot of battery life out of this.

One of the earlier problems with the other electronic deadbolts is they were just draining battery power like crazy. Because the wifi is just constantly draining the batteries, even when they go into sleep mode it’s just a big battery hog. So, whenever you’re looking at any product, any Bluetooth product, make sure it’s a 4.0 at a minimum, 4.0 for the encryption and it is not a battery hog.

Unboxing Schlage Sense Deadbolt

The Schlage is for residential use. I absolutely love their products. Nicely packaged. I with the oil rubbed finish. Well written instructions. We got batteries which is good. One key? I’ll just open this up, all my bits and pieces. So they gave us Duracells, excellent batteries. Plates, screws, again pretty simple, this is a drive-in or Mortise. And, what do we have here? Instructions, so, We have User Guide, instructions. Now, this one is compatible out of the box with Apple TV, so you need Apple TV. Also if you’re gonna run it with any other program you’re gonna need the wifi adapter.

We will show that in another video. So, out of the box, this is Bluetooth capable. Now, you have to download the app, so just to to the App Store, just Google Schlage Sense, get it, the app downloads quickly, put it on your Android or your iPhone, and that’s for accessing the, making the lock open and close. We’ll hook this up on a panel, we’ll see how it looks. Again, out of the box, pretty good. It’s the Schlage Sense. Now, the Schlage user is pretty good even with the wifi adapter and hooking it all up. As a security precaution, and there’s no way around it at the moment, you cannot say, “Open door” or “Alexa, open Schlage door”.

Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolt White Rock

– [Alexa] Sorry, I’m having trouble with understanding.

– Yeah, it doesn’t matter, it’s not hooked up to work through the wifi to open up the door. You gotta watch that on some of these other electronic products. Out of the box, you can say Alexa or Google or whatever and open the door and it’ll open from outside so,

– [Alexa] I’m not sure.

The Schlage is an interesting product and we are testing all the different Google, Amazon products and Apple home, out of the box this will not open through your voice commands. You have to use your app on your cell phone or you have to plugin, you know, punch in your number. The interesting thing is, we can have, I gotta check on all the specs, but I’m pretty sure we can have temporary codes that will just work for a bit.

Now, through your app and your cellular into the wifi and through your internet to your home so you can do this remotely, let people in remotely or give people codes, so it’s great for Airbnb. Again, this is a residential lock, we’ve had very good luck even putting the, we’ve had excellent luck putting these on Airbnb’s and also some bed and breakfasts. I’m going to install this on a customer who wants to be able to remotely see who comes and goes. I think he’s checking on his kids when he goes away on vacation.

Good product, there are other Keyless Locks and products, we’ll see how this one is. We are going to test it and install it up on the door and we’ll try all the different options and see how it works.
